This Acorn-fed Ham comes from 100% Iberico pigs, reared in the wild and fed exclusively on acorns, herbs and roots. Curing times are from 36 to 48 months.

This acorn-fed ham is 100% Iberico, which gives pieces with a perfect balance and the characteristic taste of long matured acorn ham.

Produced in the province of Badajoz, in Extremadura, in the southwest of Spain, which is one of the privileged areas of the Iberian pig breeding in Spain and where there is a real tradition. The oak forests are enormous and the diet is very rich in acorns.

The curing process is completely natural and is carried out slowly. No artificial means are used. The temperature and humidity are regulated by opening and closing the windows of the buildings.

This region has a strong livestock activity of the best Iberian pig breeds and has the richest holm oak ecosystem in Spain. This region is the origin of the Iberian pig where they have been roaming the fields of Extremadura for centuries.

These animals eat a large quantity of acorns throughout the day, which gives quality to the acorn ham. To have a quality of ham like this, each animal will have a hectare (10.000 m2). This means that in 200 hectares there will be 200 pigs that will have a real quality of life.

Each piece is controlled and has an official black stamp at the end of each leg which guarantees the quality of the ham as Pata Negra Bellota.
